Synopsis:
As the young wife of a South African sheep farmer,
Jo van der Walt was blissfully happy. Surrounded
by the wild, beautiful land of the Karoo and married to Kobie, her childhood sweetheart, it
seemed there was nothing that could threaten her
secure little worid. But then, after the birth of her
first chid, Jo discovered she was going deaf, a
hereditary deafness that would increase if she
ever had any more children.
Suddenly her life turned into a grey, silent world
where she was hidden from her friends-and from
Kobie. Tbe only person who was able to break
through her barrier of silence was Rob Stirling, a
young doctor who understood the nightmare she
was facing. And it was through him that Jo became
the trial case for anew operation which Rob was
convinced would restore her hearing. But neither
of them knew the terrible ways in which the
operation was to change their lives - and Kobie's.
The Bookworms Mission:
We strive to reduce unnecessary landfill by taking used books, second-hand books, paperback books, hardback books, pre-loved books, great reads and recycled books and then redistributing them throughout New Zealand, Australia and the rest of the world. Readers can connect online with book titles, helping them find new homes, and support reusing and re-loving books that are affordable. At Bookworms you’ll find cheap books, hidden gems and even some lost treasures. We have a passion for sustainability, being eco-friendly, eco-conscious and we aim to incorporate that into all that we do.
