New Zealand Rugby 101

Lee Smith

Lee became involved in coaching from an early age and enjoyed roles at secondary school, senior club and provincial levels before joining the NZRU as Director of Coaching (1988-1996). This commenced the ongoing implementation of a coaching programme that continues to be a work in progress today, worldwide. In his role as Director of Development with the IRB (1996-2001) and as Oceania Development Manager (2001-2011) he conducted coaching and performance planning courses in most rugby unions around the world. In so doing he delivered the programme which he continues to implement today. This book is for everyone because: * It enables the couch potato to easily understand why their team won or lost. * It allows newcomers to the game to understand, quite simply, what the game is all about. * It provides referees with the opportunity to understand systematically what players and coaches aim to achieve. * It allows coaches at all levels to get the best out of their team in a systematic way. * Most importantly,it enables players to analyse the game for themselves and make accurate, successful decisions. * It helps fans to accept the result and move on.
