Synopsis:

Edmund «Mundy" McDowell is barely fourteen years old when the Civil War invades the Shenandoah Valley. He watches in shocked horror as a gang of Union and Confederate deserters loot and burn his home and then brutally murder his parents. From that moment he wanders silent and seemingly invisible through a valley of death. He is guided by a mysterious black dog that has eyes of fire and may or may not be real. And he is haunted by the memories and voices of those who've died. By the end of his nightmarish journey, Mundy must decide whether to go back to the world of the living or remain an invisible silent spirit.

The Bookworms Mission:

We strive to reduce unnecessary landfill by taking used books, second-hand books, paperback books, hardback books, pre-loved books, great reads and recycled books and then redistributing them throughout New Zealand, Australia and the rest of the world. Readers can connect online with book titles, helping them find new homes, and support reusing and re-loving books that are affordable. At Bookworms you’ll find cheap books, hidden gems and even some lost treasures. We have a passion for sustainability, being eco-friendly, eco-conscious and we aim to incorporate that into all that we do.
